About the USCCA

The United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) is a nationally recognized leader in firearms education, training, and legal protection for responsible armed citizens. Founded in 2003, the USCCA provides trusted resources to help individuals safely and confidently exercise their right to self-defense.

As a USCCA Certified Instructor, TruePoint Tactical uses the official USCCA curriculum to deliver high-quality, professional training in firearm safety, defensive shooting, and personal protection. Students benefit from proven teaching methods, comprehensive training materials, and practical instruction designed to prepare them for real-world situations.

About the Founder

TruePoint Tactical was founded by Mark Babich, a United States Marine Corps veteran, USCCA Certified Instructor, and lifelong advocate for responsible firearms ownership. With a background in military leadership, corporate security, and legal support, Mark brings a unique blend of real-world experience, discipline, and professionalism to every class.

Having served overseas in Afghanistan and managed large-scale security operations in the private sector, Mark understands the importance of preparation, precision, and personal responsibility. His mission is simple: to give everyday citizens the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.

Through TruePoint Tactical, Mark provides training that goes beyond the range—building not only technical ability, but also the mindset of safety, awareness, and responsibility that every armed citizen should carry.

What courses do you offer?

We currently offer Basic Pistol Training for beginners and Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) certification courses. Private instruction, refresher sessions, and group training are also available upon request.

What are the requirements to take a CPL course in Michigan?

You must be at least 21 years old, a Michigan resident, legally allowed to own a firearm, and have no felony or disqualifying misdemeanor convictions. Students must complete an approved 8-hour training course that includes live-fire exercises.

Do I need to own a firearm to take the course?

No. Firearms and ammunition are available for rent during training sessions. However, students are welcome — and encouraged — to bring their own pistols if they already own one.

What should I bring to class?

A valid photo ID, eye and ear protection (if you have them), a notebook, and a willingness to learn. If using your own firearm, please bring it unloaded with ammunition stored separately.

How long is the CPL course?

The full course runs approximately 8 hours, which includes classroom instruction on firearm laws, safety, and use of force — plus range time for qualification shooting.

Do you provide the required certificate for the CPL application?

Yes. Upon successful completion of the course and range qualification, you’ll receive a State of Michigan-approved certificate that you can submit with your CPL application at your county clerk’s office.

What topics are covered in the CPL course?

Our curriculum includes:

Is live-fire shooting required?

Yes. Michigan law requires live-fire training as part of all CPL courses. You’ll fire at least 30 rounds under instructor supervision in a controlled, safe environment.

How much does the training cost?

Course fees vary depending on the class type and whether you bring your own firearm and ammunition.

Basic Pistol Course: typically $50–$100
CPL Course: typically $100–$200

Do you offer private or group classes?

Yes! We offer private one-on-one lessons and group sessions for families, friends, or organizations. Group discounts may apply.

Where are classes held?

Classroom sessions are held at our TruePoint Tactical Training Center (or partner facilities), and live-fire qualifications are conducted at a certified indoor or outdoor range depending on the season and availability.

What is your refund or reschedule policy?

Cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance can be rescheduled or refunded (minus processing fees). No-shows or late cancellations may forfeit their seat.

Do you offer advanced or tactical courses?

Yes — in addition to our CPL and Basic Pistol classes, we periodically offer Advanced Defensive Pistol and Personal Defense workshops for experienced shooters looking to refine their skills

Who teaches the courses?

All classes are taught by certified firearms instructors with law enforcement, military, or professional firearms training backgrounds. Our instructors emphasize safety, respect, and confidence-building above all else.
